Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) technologies have transformed digital experiences across education, healthcare, entertainment, tourism, and communication by enabling immersive and interactive environments. As these technologies expand globally, cultural adaptation has become essential for improving user engagement, accessibility, acceptance, and effectiveness. Cultural adaptation involves tailoring VR/AR environments to the languages, values, traditions, social norms, and behaviors of diverse cultural groups. This study examines the influence of cultural adaptation on user perception, interaction, navigation, communication, and emotional responses within immersive environments. It proposes a framework that integrates cultural intelligence, localization strategies, adaptive content generation, and machine learning-based personalization. The framework supports features such as language localization, avatar customization, symbolic representation, context-aware storytelling, and adaptive social interaction models. Experimental results indicate that culturally adaptive VR/AR environments significantly improve immersion, engagement, trust, learning outcomes, user satisfaction, and retention compared to non-adaptive systems. The study also highlights challenges including cultural bias, privacy concerns, scalability issues, and ethical considerations. Overall, the research emphasizes the importance of incorporating cultural intelligence into VR/AR development to create globally inclusive, personalized, and socially responsible extended reality (XR) experiences.
