The rapid evolution of Industry 4.0 has introduced semi-autonomous industrial plants where human operators collaborate closely with advanced AI systems to optimize production processes. This paper explores the integration of AI-enhanced Human-in-the-Loop (HITL) systems within semi-autonomous Industry 4.0 plants, emphasizing the synergy between human expertise and artificial intelligence. We provide a comprehensive overview of AI technologies such as machine learning, computer vision, and natural language processing that augment human decision-making, monitoring, and control tasks. Furthermore, we propose a framework for effectively integrating AI modules with human operators to ensure safety, flexibility, and efficiency. Case studies from manufacturing and assembly lines demonstrate practical applications and benefits, while we also discuss current challenges including technical limitations and human factors. Finally, the paper outlines future research directions to advance HITL systems, aiming to enhance the adaptability and intelligence of next-generation industrial environments.
