ArticlesAbstract
Artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming the luxury industry through personalization, design, demand forecasting, supply-chain management, and retail operations. AI can support sustainable luxury by reducing waste, optimizing resources, improving supply-chain visibility, and enabling circular business models. However, excessive automation may challenge luxury values such as craftsmanship, heritage, creativity, scarcity, and authenticity. This paper examines how AI can support sustainability while preserving these human-centered qualities. Based on a conceptual literature review, the study proposes a human-centered framework integrating AI capability, sustainability outcomes, human–AI collaboration, heritage preservation, authenticity, and consumer value. The paper argues that human augmentation rather than replacement can help luxury brands achieve sustainable value while maintaining their distinctive identity.
