  • Abstract

Numerous banks continue to run these essential business procedures such as account administration, standard monetary processing, client onboarding and regulatory conformity on outdated software built decades ago. While these systems continue to be consistent throughout the years, they often struggle to satisfy the expectations of the current digital banking landscape, where customers desire seamless, real-time and individualized services across different channels. Monolithic designs have problems associated with scale, lengthy deployment cycles, significant upkeep cost and less adaptability. As a result, modernization has become a strategic need for financial institutions to stay competitive. In this study, the modernization of historical banking systems with the use of a microservices architecture based on Spring Boot is studied. The article investigates the benefits about breaking down large monolithic systems into autonomously deployable and scalable services, boosting agility, high resilience, operational effectiveness and time-to-market for the newest monetary products. This paper, based on a combination of industry case research, standard architectural analysis and actual implementation experiences, discusses the procedures, obstacles and optimal practices of moving from conventional banking platforms to microservices-based, driven eco-systems. Special emphasis is positioned on service decomposition methodologies, API-driven standard integration, data management challenges, security needs, and standard deployment automation utilizing contemporary DevOps approaches. The outcome demonstrate that Spring Boot microservices services might be a strong foundation for faster digital transformations via modular development, uninterrupted delivery, greater fault isolation and higher scalability, while keeping continuous operations throughout the migration process. The report identifies frequently received risks include legacy data dependencies, organizational resistance and regulatory compliance issues, alongside best practices to mitigate risks. The research offers a pragmatic perspective on how financial institutions can modernize their technology systems at a cost-effective rate, enhance customer satisfaction, and develop responsive digital banking platforms that fuel foreseeable innovation and growth in a competitive, technologically based financial services landscape.
