ArticlesAbstract
Artificial intelligence (AI) has emerged as an important enabler for real-time streaming applications in healthcare, finance, cyber security and intelligent monitoring where quick and precise decision making is crucial. Despite the great performance of state-of-the-art AI models, their black-box design often obstructs transparency, thereby creating questions about trust, accountability, justice and regulatory compliance. As the demand for explainable artificial intelligence (XAI) in streaming data pipelines increases, this research introduces a unique architecture that combines interpretability methods without sacrificing real-time performance. We offer a method tailored for continuous data processing environments, enabling users to comprehend, confirm, and accept AI-based predictions with low latency and high throughput. A detailed case study is offered to show the actual use of the framework in a real-world streaming application. The evaluation takes into account both quantitative performance measures such as efficiency of processing, accuracy of predictions and responsiveness of the system and qualitative user input about the clarity, utility and efficacy of the provided explanations. The results show that adding explainability in streaming AI systems is not only achievable but also desirable as it leads to a considerable increase in user confidence and allows for informed decision making without adding significant computational burden. The framework also encourages responsible use of AI through improving transparency and helping to comply with the new AI governance norms. This work bridges the gap between the superior performance of AI models and the increasing demand for interpretability, and contributes to the advancement of trustworthy AI systems by providing concrete recommendations for the design of responsible, transparent, and user-centered real-time AI systems that can be successfully deployed in important application domains.
